What. A. Game!

What. A win!

What. A Belgian trickster!

Chelsea went into the game having had a four win streak in the league. The Blues scored eleven goals and kept four clean sheets in their last five premier league fixtures. The only dent in that record was their deplorable first half performance against Arsenal.

Well, the Blues duly delivered on the pre-game expectations by serving us a remarkable flow of attacking football, and tenacious defending.

First Half:

First, the goals kicked off with a wonderfully placed Hazard shot from Steklenburg’s right in the 16th min. 1-0 Chelsea!

Nevertheless, it was only the start. A few seconds later, Marcos Alonso doubled the lead. In the 18th min he unleashed a strong shot (assisted by Pedro) in between the Everton goalkeeper’s legs. 2-0 for the London blues!

Moreover, the remaining of the first half was a bit calmer, with both teams alternating in spells of possession. Chelsea were clearly the better team by the time the official blew for half time. The official Chelsea FC twitter account didn’t seem to excited though…

Second Half:

The second half kicked off in the same way, with Costa adding a third goal for Chelsea in the 46th minute. The crowd cheered the usual “Diegoo” as Chelsea shifted gears knowing they were on track for a historic win.

And indeed, the diminutive Belgian wizard added yet another goal to his tally this season in the 54th min by dancing around the Everton defense after a delightful backheel from Pedro.

Finally, the cherry on top, was Pedro’s goal. The fifth for the blues. The winger barely had to move, tapping in the rebound off a strong Hazard shot.

And that was a wrap, the Blues cruised through the rest of the game. Conte’s team always seemed ready to add a sixth. As the numbers by Opta show, one word describes this team, Warriors!
